Pilates is a Mind and Body method developed by Joseph Pilates.
It's technique utilizes the “core” which consists of the deep abdominal muscles along with the muscles closest to the spine (Multifidus). In addition, Pilates is a method which helps develop core control; integrating the trunk, pelvis and shoulder girdle. It elongates and strengthens, building long muscles and flexible joints. Pilates Improves and develops agility, strength, posture and flexibility through a range of movements choreographed and performed on the mat, the reformer, and other Pilates apparatus.
Traditional methods of training and developing the body tend to produce bulky, short muscles, precisely the type of musculature most prone to injury. Pilates elongates the spine, increasing the elasticity of muscles and the flexibility of joints. This balance between strength and flexibility significantly reduces the potential for injury.

Anaité Arnold earned her Pilates Instructor certification at Long Beach Dance Conditioning Movement Academy where she studied directly under Pilates Master Instructor Marie Jose Blom. Formerly a professional dancer, Anaité is a member of the Pilates Method Alliance. It was her many years of experience as a professional dancer and dance instructor that inspired Anaité to become a Certified Pilates Instructor. Injured while studying and working abroad, Anaité credits Pilates training for her recovery. She subsequently became a certified Pilates Instructor with the intention of helping other athletes regain their pre-injury performance level. From the perspective of both a Dancer and a Pilates instructor, it is the healing and growth offered by Pilates technique that Anaité finds so rewarding.
Pilates will strengthen, tone & sculpt the muscles, improve flexibility and balance, & align the spine thereby improving posture.
Pilates is instrumental in the prevention of sports & dance related injury.
