Classroom Conduct

  • Students must give their full attention to their instructor at all times. Talking is not permitted amongst students during class. If a student has a question they should raise their hand and wait to be called on. Questions should be limited to those relating to the lessons of the day.
  • Respect towards instructors, staff, students and other patrons of EBA must be maintained at ALL times. Disrespectful conduct will not be tolerated and is grounds for dismissal from the class. Persistent behavioral problems are grounds for indefinite dismissal from the school.
  • Do not lean, hang or play on the barres.
  • No food, drink or gum is allowed in the classroom. Water bottles with a secure lid are acceptable.
  • No rough housing, running or otherwise disruptive behavior in the classroom or building.
  • No sitting during class except when stretching or instructed to do so by the teacher.
  • Parents of Twinkle Twos and Tip Toe Tots students must stay on site during their child’s class. Pre-Ballet parents may leave but they must inform the teacher and leave their cell phone # before class begins.
  • Out of respect for our teachers’ time and in the interest of keeping to our class schedule we ask that you please call to make an appointment with your child’s teacher and/or the school director to discuss any issues or concerns you may have about your child and our school.
  • Students, parents, and anyone who enters our doors are all expected to show respect to every student/patron of EBA. Mean, malicious, or any otherwise hurtful talk directed towards or about another person will not be tolerated from anyone.
  • A healthy lifestyle is fundamental in the training of young dancers. As such junk food is not allowed on the premises. If you’re not sure whether it’s junk food or not, leave it at home.
  • Weight issues will NEVER be discussed with the student. Any weight concerns will be discussed between parent & teacher. We ask that parents please abide by this. If you have a concern about your child’s weight, please make an appointment to discuss it with your child’s teacher and/or the director in private.

Attendance and Punctuality

  • Arrive early enough to be properly prepared for class at the scheduled start time. Students of the Academy will not be excused from class for water breaks or to use the restroom except in the case of an emergency.
o   Use the restroom before class begins.
o   Be properly attired in the clothes outlined in the EBA dress code.
o   Hair must be secured in a neat ballet bun.
o   Begin warming-up before class by stretching and doing strength exercises.
  • If a student needs to be excused from class early for any reason they should inform the instructor prior to the first exercise.
  • Students will not be allowed to participate in class for any of the following reasons. In such a case that the student is not allowed to participate they should stay and observe.
o   Arriving late to class. (This is for the safety of the student. If the body is not properly and sufficiently warmed up it can lead to injury.)
o   Hair is not in a secure and neat ballet bun. (Our instructors DO NOT do hair. It is the responsibility of the student/parent to have their hair done properly prior to the start of class.)
o   Dress code requirements are not met.
  • If you arrive late to class you must ask permission of the instructor to enter the classroom. Students should quietly wait just inside the door until the instructor directs the student into the classroom. This helps to keep disruptions to a minimum. It is up to their discretion whether the student will be allowed to participate or asked to sit and observe.
  • Students who are sick and/or contagious should stay home.
  • Injured students should attend class to observe. A doctor’s note is required before a previously injured student is allowed to again participate in class.
  • In the event that only 1 student shows up for any given class, the class will be taught as a private lesson and will be one half the length of the normally scheduled class. (Classes less than an hour in duration may be cut slightly short in this event but generally will be longer than this "one half rule".)

Attendance
  • Please keep in mind there are no make-up classes. If classes are canceled by EBA, we will prorate the next session.
